Hemp Oil is the wonderful oil that comes from the Hemp Plant. It is getting more and more popular and has been linked with all sorts of health benefits that we love. Now in Australia we can also ingest it so we can absorb the benefits from inside too.
Whether it's psoriasis, cholesterol, PMS or more hemp has been strongly linked with easing the pain. We're here to tell you more about it.
What is Hemp Oil?
Hemp Oil comes from the seeds of the hemp plant and it is packed with goodness; it has quite a strong distinctive nutty smell. It contains Omega 3, 6 and 9, minerals including Calcium, Copper, Iodine, Magnesium, Zinc, Potassium, Phosphorous, Chlorophyll and Fibre and vitamins A1,B1,B2,B3,B6,C,D & E. It also contains all nine essentialamino acids. It's pretty awesome.
Not only is it jam packed with goodness but the nutrients are readily available to us. Effectively the Omega ratio of fats is incredibly similar to that of human tissues so it is easily absorbed and, what is even better, is that it is very easily absorbed through the skin.
What Are The Benefits?
1. Helps lower cholesterol - Studies show that taking Hemp Oil can reduce the levels of LDL cholesterol in the blood and accelerate metabolic processes so breaking down the fat on the walls. You need to massage 10ml into your body daily.
2. Helps with psoriasis - Psoriasis can be caused by deficiencies in essential fatty acids. Hemp Oil is rich in these and they are easily absorbed. Linoleic Acid and Gamma Linoleic Acid are important to help influence the loss in water through the skin and help with psoriasis and dry skin.
3. Helps vegans and vegetarians get enough fatty acids - Vegan and vegetarians sometimes are lower in essential fatty acids as the omega acids are often found in fish and meat. Hemp Oil helps with this; you can ingest via Hemp Seeds, Hemp Protein or massage onto the skin with Hemp Oil.
What Are The Benefits (Continued)
4. Eases Rheumatoid Arthritis - GLA is an effective anti inflammatory and trials have shown, when used over 12 weeks, Hemp Oil helps alleviate the symptoms of rheumatoid artheritis.
5. Supports the symptoms of PMS - Gamma-linolenic acid supports hormonal balance so 5ml rubbed into the stomach area daily supports this. You can ingest via Hemp Seeds and Hemp Protein also.
6. Circulation - Cold pressed hemp seed oil is well known for helping with blood circulation and it also thins the blood helping with varicose veins. A word of warning: if you take blood thinners or suffer from heart disease don't use hemp seed oil.
7. Moisturiser for dry skin - Due to the fatty acid composition hemp oil is a wonderful moisturiser and serum. It is great for dry skin, nails, and dry hair. Essential Hemp is a beautiful oil to massage into the skin.
Hemp Oil
Hemp Oil has also been linked to other areas such as cancer treatment, mental health etc. but a lot more studies need to be done on these before we endorse.

Hemp Seeds are great for use in soups, salads and dips and will be sure to add some great texture to your dish. Hemp Seed Oil is great for use in cooking and on salads for extra yummy flavour. Our Hemp Protein Powders are fantastic for smoothies and with muesli and are easily absorbed by the body.
Did you know that hemp oil was previously illegal to eat? The law has changed now, so you can be confident ingesting hemp oil in Australia. This change in law is wonderful news because hemp is a rich source of protein so could be valuable to our diets particularly if you are vegan or vegetarian. You can shop our hemp products from Mt. Elephant and Essential Hemp.
Things to note: It should not be heated or left in the sun as it can be denatured and turn the unsaturated fats into saturated fats. Don't use it if you have thin blood as it is an anti coagulant.
