You might be reading this blog because like us, you can't believe that beauty products are still tested on animals, or you're just finding out this uncomfortable reality. No matter the reason, we're probably all of the same opinion— testing on animals needs to stop.
If you haven't seen the Humane Society's latest campaign video to stop testing on animals for good, we encourage you to give it a watch. It's a very cute animation of a bunny named Ralph who talks us through the life of a test rabbit.
Ralph, voiced by New Zealand Hollywood director, actor and screenwriter, Taika Waititi, explains the reasons for animal testing in a comedic, non-nonchalant way "Now I know it looks bad, but the way I see it, I'm doing my job. If just one human can have the illusion of a safer lipstick or deodorant, or ah-". The reality here is that products don't need to be tested on animals to make sure they are safe for humans. We should know products are safe by knowing what the ingredients are and not including confusing numbers in our ingredients lists.
If you want to help stop testing on animals around the world, there are a few things you can do right now.
Only Buy Vegan & Cruelty-Free Products
This is a big one. If you weren't doing this before, start reading labels, start asking questions. Ask brands if their products are vegan and cruelty-free, ask for their ingredients, ask where they are made.
Here's a little known secret for you; any products that sell in China must be tested on animals to go to market, so ask brands if they sell their products in China. If they do, then their products will be tested on animals. Here at Flora & Fauna we only stock 100% vegan & cruelty-free products and we don't stock brands owned by parent companies that test on animals.
Sign The Pledge
Sign the pledge to be cruelty-Free! By signing this you can help end testing on animals forever. By signing this, you're making a personal commitment to not buy products tested on animals or support companies that sell products that are tested on animals.
It's not just rabbits that suffer, other animals used for testing around the world include fish, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, farm animals, birds, cats, dogs, pigs, and non-human primates (monkeys, and in some countries, chimpanzees).
Making cruelty-free products that are safe for humans is simple and no animal needs to suffer for this.
Spread The Word
Please do us a big favour and spread the word. Spread the word to your friends, family, colleagues, classmates and anyone you can. To see change happen, we need numbers. We need people that care as much as you to tell brands who still test on animals that we will not stand for this.
Share this video on your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and keep the conversation going.

There are so many more brands not mentioned, so please do your research. A lot of these are found at chemists and there are even brands that have come out with a 'vegan line', so be wary. Testing on animals is cruel and we think no animal should suffer for anyone's beauty. This is the main reason we started Flora & Fauna. When Julie (our founder) went vegan, she found it extremely hard to find beauty products and specifically a vegan lipstick that contained good ingredients and out of this, F&F was born.
Here at F&F, our mission is to be kind to the planet, people and animals, so you can rest assured, all of our products are 100% vegan, cruelty-free and not tested on animals. Trust us, nothing gets past Julie, she is a vegan queen. You can think of us as your safe space— every product we have is cruelty-free and vegan.
