It’s no secret that the popularity of gardening is blossoming! Now, it’s easier than ever to grow your own plants, veggies, herbs and flowers at home — with virtual plant workshops and DIY grow kits!
What Are Virtual Plant Workshops?
Since last year’s lockdowns, we’ve seen a massive influx in online events for people to join virtually from anywhere in the world. By attending online workshops, we can learn a new skill, ask questions, and connect with others — all from the comfort of our own home.
Did you know that there are plenty of virtual plant workshops for you to join? You can learn how to propagate plants, build terrariums, install vertical gardens — and the best ways to grow bonsai trees, mushrooms and indoor herbs — basically anything you can think of!
Live workshops offer you the chance to interact with your teacher, ask questions, and learn from other attendees.
The Urban Botanist Virtual Workshops
The Urban Botanist is a Canadian company that specialises in virtual plant workshops! They’re all about achieving the perfect balance between craft, design, interactive learning, team bonding and plant therapy.
The Virtual Terrarium Workshop is a crowd-favourite. With the Urban Botanist’s DIY Terrarium Kit, you can receive all the elements that you need to create your own unique terrarium. The 1-hour virtual learning session shows you how to assemble your terrarium step-by-step, and gives you all the tips and tricks you need to care for it.
There’s also the Virtual Plant Wellness Workshop. This class teaches you how to care for plants, how to grow your collection, and how to incorporate plants into your home for good health and wellness.
Sustainable Gardening Australia Webinars & Online Events
Sustainable Gardening Australia (SGA) is currently offering community workshop webinars in over 30 gardening-related topics, such as Gardening for Food & Health, Gardening for Biodiversity, and Sustainable Garden Design! All the workshops contain step-by-step, practical projects for participants to replicate at home. These webinars can be organised through your community centre, community garden, local library, and even your workplace! Take a look at all the different SGA webinar options.
We highly recommend checking out Eventbrite and Facebook Events for online plant workshops! There’s plenty of them out there — you just need to have a quick look around to see what’s coming up and what fits in your budget (most workshops are free, though).
