Lipsticks to Brighten This Winter

May 22, 2018by F&F

If there's one thing that can cheer us up in Winter, it's bright and bold Winter lipstick shades; think deep burgundies, rich rubies and creamy chocolates.

Read our guide below to find the best winter shade for you and to keep your lips their softest and boldest throughout the season. All our lipsticks are 100% vegan and cruelty-free, just the way beauty should be.

Farewell Winter Blues with Burgundy

A strong, deep burgundy is a clear winner this winter - available in both cool and warm undertones, they are universally flattering and synonymous with cold-weather chic.

VonBlü’s - Erovra is a clear standout and instantly adds impact to any look. The colour is tough, but the ingredients are definitely not. The highly pigmented, semi-matte lipsticks are made with natural oils and natural ingredients which nourish your lips whilst providing a deep intense colour that lasts.  If you want something really dark and dramatic this season, Elate’s Demure is the shade for you - a satiny deep burgundy with plum undertones that really packs a punch. Tantric is Elate's Founder, Melodie Reynolds', favourite lipstick for Winter. If your lips are chapped beyond relief, the blend of shea and mango butter works miracles to keep your smile soft and supple while the organic vanilla essential oil leaves a lovely natural scent.

That Staple Red Lipstick

Because red lips are always a favourite (and so they should be) we’ve listed our more seasonal take on the shade with a brownish brick red, a classic bright red along with a deeper, old-Hollywood-glam red.

The newly launched Ere Perez lipsticks are a must-have this winter. Festival is the perfect seasonal browny-red that has been uniquely formulated with olive oil (the holy grail for hydrated lips). For a timeless shade of red, Hanami’s Tempest flatters a range of skin-tones. The smooth finish is moisturising and leaves a bit of a sheen for a healthy look. This lipstick offers long-lasting colour but won't dry out your lips thanks to its nourishing blend of natural ingredients such as jojoba oil and shea butter. If you prefer a darker red, Inika’s After Dark is your shade. It’s a luxurious sultry red that challenges the notion of conventional lipstick by providing effortless nourishment and hydration without compromising on performance or colour.

For That Touch Of Colour

If the bright shades aren't your look or you’re still hesitant about trying out a vampy pout, the Ere Perez Cacao hydrating lip colours are our top recommendation. The sheer lipsticks are made with soothing ingredients like cacao butter to soften and hydrate lips, plus castor oil to moisturise. Mingle, a taupe brown lip colour, is the perfect gateway into the trend, providing a beautiful slick of sheer colour that will also treat dehydrated lips.

Another subtle-colour favourite is the Eye of Horus Lipstick in Freya Rose, offering a face-freshening hint of warmth to lips and cheeks without shouting about it. The light, soft red is rich in bio active ingredients and contains a naturally sourced marine botanical that helps to create a plumping effect. These lipsticks have been crafted to nourish your lips with sunflower, castor and olive oils plus natural vitamin C for a glossy hydration effect.

Don’t Deny Your Weather-Worn Pout

The harsh winter air can leave lips dry, chapped and unhappy - making wearing vibrant lipsticks nearly impossible. Lipstick lovers can still get their colour-fix with tinted lipsticks which provide additional protection from the harsh elements. Neek Lipsticks are enriched with a base of organic shea butter, jojoba and avocado oil that battle to stop your lips from drying out on cold, icy days. Try Pash for a mauve alternative to a daily nude and can be layered depending on whether you want a subtle colour pop for the office or a bolder look for the evening.

We have plenty of lipsticks at Flora & Fauna and all are vegan and cruelty free.
