How To Recycle & Upcycle with our Stockists

Jun 24, 2022by Gabby - F&F

Our Recycling Program is moving to Melbourne!

Whilst we undergo the move, we are sharing some ways you can recycle and upcycle in the meantime!

We have a number of wonderful stockists who have recycling programs themselves! We will also take you through some more generic ways you can recycle in Australia.

Sukin's Skincare Recycling Program

Sukin has partnered with Terracycle to give you a free recycling program for your skincare product packaging.

You can recycle glass or plastic tubes, tubs, bottles, lids, droppers, jars and pumps. They're also flexible with plastic skin care packaging! Just be careful your skincare products are completely empty before recycling!

  1. Create a free Terracycle account & join Sukin's Recycling Program
  2. Collect all your empty Sukin packaging
  3. Request a postage label on your terracycle account
  4. Print out your label and secure it onto the box, then drop off at your nearest post office.

Terracycle

TerraCycle helps to eliminate waste by recycling the non-recyclable. Terracycle can collect, and recycle, almost any form of waste. So whether that is coffee pods, beauty tubes, juice packets and even chip bags, Terracycle make new products out of the waste. Pretty cool right? All your beauty products and blister packs can be sent direct to Terracycle too. Old Onya products can be sent to Onya.

Here at F&F we sell the TerraCycle Recyling Boxes. Effectively you can buy the box, put your waste in it, fill it up and send back to TerraCycle (shipping is paid for) to be recycled. These are perfect for businesses and homes.

Boody's Textile Recycling Program

Wondering what to do with items you no longer wear, need or love? Boody has partnered with Upparel to launch the Goodness Loop, a way for you to have an immediate impact and close the loop on those textile items. Plus, they reward you with $25 to spend on anything from the Boody range of sustainable basics.

Depending on the condition of your items, Boody will either Reuse (send to charity), Upcycle or Recycle. Simply purchase your shipping label, then pack your box (a courier will pick it up from your front door). As for tights, you can also recycle them with The Legware Co.

Sienna Nail Polish

Sienna has changed the way people dispose of their nail polish, thanks to their timber cap design (can be composted) and their glass jar (recyclable).

If you're wanting to correctly dispose your old nail polish bottles yourself, make sure the plastic brush and glass bottle are washed with nail polish remover to ensure they are free of any excess residue. Then, place the brushes and bottles in separate milk containers or plastic water bottles, and then into your recycling bin.

Or if you are a bit unsure, you can send them straight to Sienna to recycle. They have partnered with Planet Ark.

Aussie Bread Tags For Wheelchairs

You can still help this wonderful cause and the environment by collecting your plastic bread tags and sending them direct to Aussie Bread Tags For Wheelchairs. There are many collection points you can either drop them off to or post them to across all of Australia.

What do they do with the tags? They are recycled locally, raising funds to buy wheelchairs for disadvantaged people, mainly in South Africa. You can learn more in our blog here.

Recycle with Recycle Smart. They make sure your hard to recycle things like, soft plastics, e-waste, textiles and misfits go to the right place. All you have to do is: schedule a pickup, pack your bags and leave them outside.

Recycle soft plastic waste through REDcycle. In Australia, soft plastic packaging can’t be recycled through most kerbside recycling services. But if it scrunches (think bread bags and wrappers), then it can be recycled through REDcycle which means it's kept out of landfill. Find REDcycle collection bins at participating supermarkets.

Recycle Smart Aus, now accepts blister packs! Check to see which councils accept!

Lastly, we highly recommend using Sharewaste if you need a community compost. Learn more in our blog here!

Thank you for your patience as you wait for our Recycling Program to settle in, in Melbourne.

The other thing you can do while you wait, is continue to save all the products you're wanting to recycle for when our Recycling Program returns soon!

We're super excited to show you all the new changes happening here at F&F. While you wait, why not reflect on some of our big moments from last year:
