Dr. Bronner’s is excited to launch their ‘Heal Earth!’ campaign this April in recognition of Earth Month. ‘Heal Earth’ supports healthy climate action and offers dynamic solutions for climate resilience. They share their story below.
As a company, we are committed to treating Spaceship Earth like home. We’re passionate about Regenerative Organic Agriculture and its ability to Heal Earth and demonstrate this by offering organic and fair-trade products with simple, pure ingredients consumers can pronounce, and selling climate-friendly plant-based soaps that are good for the planet and good for the body.
-
Source all major raw materials for our biodegradable, plant-based products from certified organic and certified fair trade projects around the world;
-
support thousands of smallholder farmers through fair prices and wages, including from Ghana (palm oil), Palestine and Israel (olive oil), and Sri Lanka (coconut oil);
-
work directly with farmers to increase knowledge and skills for implementation of Regenerative Organic Agriculture, which entail carbon-sequestering farming practices such as minimal tillage, diverse crop rotation, composting, and cover cropping; and
-
manufacture soaps in a 100% renewably powered facility.
Dr. Bronner’s also donates all profits not needed for business development. In 2023, an estimated $8.5 million (USD) was donated to support activist and charitable causes through the All-One International program. In Australia we support Seed, Edgar’s Mission and Eat Up via this program. We’ve also recently supported organisations such as Surfers for Climate, Original Power, Voiceless and Surfrider through monthly charitable giving and product donations.
We have also made the following climate pledges to continue to improve our company’s impact on the Earth:
-
Working to be a Climate Positive brand by 2025;
-
achieving Zero Waste by 2027 for our manufacturing facility;
-
installing more onsite solar panels and purchasing Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from our local energy provider in order to obtain 100% Green Power for our facilities;
-
continue adopting multi-modal forms of transportation, from inbound shipping of raw materials to delivery of finished goods, to reduce our environmental footprint and greenhouse gas emissions, while optimising efficiencies along the supply chain; and
-
continue piloting packaging alternatives to plastic and refill options at U.S. domestic retailers by 2023 and expand internationally in the coming years.
