Copper bottles have been used throughout history for centuries. According to Ayurvedic principles copper balances all three doshas or elements in our body (Vata, Pitta, Kapha).
Copper bottles supercharge water with copper ions. Copper is not produced in the body so we need to get it from external sources. Drinking copper infused water can have health benefits; copper is an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, an antioxidant and can help with joint health, red blood cells and digestion.
At Flora & Fauna we have introduced YogiBeings Copper bottles which are not only beautiful but also can help with balance and your health.
As a metal copper can:
- Help digestive disorders
- Assist our bodies in the absorption of iron
- Help regulate functioning of the thyroid gland
- Enable melanin production helping protect the body from sun damage
- Stimulate cell regeneration to help wounds heal faster and soothe joint pain and, promotes cell regeneration.
Get the maximum benefit from your bottle by storing water in it for 8+ hours. For best results and a healthy start to your morning, try storing water in your copper water bottle overnight.
If you don't want to supercharge your water you can simply fill your water bottle and use it straight away. You'll still get the antibacterial benefits but won't add extra copper to your water.
Note: Storing water in pure copper only adds the minutest trace of copper well below the RDA, and the water is only supercharged after it has been stored in the bottle for at least 8-10 hours.
If you have copper toxicity we recommend you don't use these bottles.
Caring for your bottle and important points
Your bottle is made from pure food grade copper and the traditional version has no rubber seals so it is wonderfully light but not leak proof so it likes being upright and actually is a perfect desk bottle. Yogi Beings have now introduced one with a silicone seal
Copper keeps water naturally cool; it is however an excellent conductor of heat so, if washing your bottle in warm water, wear mitts to prevent burning yourself.
Just put pure water in your bottle. It doesn't take well to flavoured drinks or acidic drinks. Also please handwash and don't put in the dishwasher. Your bottle will turn green if it comes into contact with liquid that isn't water. If you want to use water from your bottle in other drinks just pour it out then make your tea, smoothie or juice.
Over time your bottle will age beautifully and darken to a new hue. This is all part of its ageing process so enjoy it. To restore shine, wash with a homemade vinegar-salt solution, or easier still, rub the bottle with a half lemon sprinkled in salt. Wipe clean and leave to air dry naturally.
